My niece has come to stay with me, temporarily until the end of school, in year of high school. When school ends this year, she move in with her mom who moved to a new state for a better job. The bio dad has been out of the picture since before birth, they weren't married anyway, and no money or other help was ever required or offered for that matter. Everything is fine, but suddenly my niece is getting and other messages from someone claiming to be this. She did not want to friend or answer them, and I back her up on that. There are a lot of predators in this world. Why would someone who has never even sent a birthday card suddenly be trying to contact her? My attempts to verify his identity are futile. My sister feels this is not the bio-dad, but some kind of predator. More scary, how does this individual have any data on how to reach her at all? Wouldn't a someone interested in keeping in touch with her have kept kept in touch all these years, especially since it was easy to contact her and mom all these years. Assuming he had some problem with that, wouldn't the real father have handled contacting the daughter in a different way than like this? She's blocked him already, or rather, sent him to spam. I've taken to taking/picking her up at school and going with her everywhere. She goes to my work place after school mow, with no complaints at all. She seems very relieved. Ideas? Can we get a TRO on this person if it is social media harassment? Have appointment with tomorrow morning.
